2018 McLaren MCL33
Following a long hiatus during which the company was compelled to feature paint colors inspired by its sponsors, McLaren reintroduced the papaya livery–in an updated shade called “Papaya Spark”–for its F1 cars in 2018. The MCL33 was the first McLaren F1 car to be powered by a Renault engine. The new engine prompted a number of technical changes including a redesigned chassis, rear suspension, and cooling system. This MCL33 was the only one to feature blue, yellow, and red stripes, which echoed the colors of driver Fernando Alonso’s helmet and home region of Asturias, Spain.
