The Typ 962 IMSA was built to compete in IMSA events and featured a similar profile to the ineligible 956 but with an extended wheelbase, driver safety features, and single turbocharger. This example, 962-121, was one of the most successful 962s to compete in IMSA racing. It was built as a customer car in 1986 and sold to the Bayside Disposal Racing team, owned by Seattle entrepreneur Bruce Leven. It would race in 22 GTP races winning seven contests throughout the 1987 and 1988 seasons, with two overall victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
