1970 Chevrolet Nova “Snortin Nortin”

A model of vehicle not normally associated with off-road racing, this workaday Nova was transformed by Larry Tunnell and Mick Newton into the Snortin’ Nortin, which competed in the Vintage Class in the early and mid-1980s at events like the Mint 400, Baja 1000, and Parker 400. Decades after fading to obscurity, the Nova was rescued from the Louisiana bayou and brought to racing condition again, competing in the Baja 1000 in 2011, 2012, and 2013. The fan favorite was upgraded with independent coil spring arms, multiple FOX Racing shocks on each wheel, and Deaver leaf springs to make it an even more formidable competitor.
