1969 McLaren M10A

ENGINE: 5.0-liter Chevrolet V-8 (original engine)
HORSEPOWER: 500 (original engine)
NUMBER BUILT: 20 (est.)
RACE SERIES: Formula 5000/Formula A

The McLaren M10A was one of the first monocoque cars built for Formula 5000 racing. McLaren, like many major manufacturers including Eagle and Lola, was enticed to build cars for the series after its rules were amended to allow for 5.0-liter engines. The M10A was based on the M7A Formula 1 car but featured modified aluminum alloy bodywork and a larger engine that was not a stressed part of the chassis. Peter Gethin drove this M10A, chassis number 1, for the McLaren-sponsored Church Farm Racing Team throughout the 1969 British Formula 5000 season.
